April 13, 2016 - Honouliuli Internment Camp Tour

Posted: March 9, 2016

Let's visit the historic Honouliuli Internment Camp!

During World War II, the Honouliuli Internment Camp was the largest and longest-operating internment camp in Hawai’i. The camp was bulldozed after the war ended, but remnants still exist. In 2002, Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai’i volunteers uncovered the site. In February 2015, President Obama signed the executive order establishing the Honouliuli National Monument. The National Park Service estimates that it may take a decade before the monument is completed.

May 11, 2016 - From RIM to Information Governance

Posted: March 8, 2016

Speaker: William Saffady

Information governance creates a strategic framework that aligns information-related initiatives with an organization’s mission. It has quickly become the focus of records management attention in companies, government agencies, and other organizations, but its relationship to RIM remains confusing. Is it a new field or a rebranding of well established ideas, an evolved form of records management or a replacement for it? This session will review the key characteristics of information governance, emphasizing its distinctive characteristics, its business justification, its relationship to records management, the roles and responsibilities of IG stakeholders, the integration of information governance with other information-related disciplines, and enabling technologies for information governance. The session is based on the speaker’s new book on information governance, which will be published by ARMA International in 2016.

March 9, 2016 - Properly Managing eDiscovery

Posted: February 23, 2016

Does your company properly manage its eDiscovery?

Today, many job ads calling for managing eDiscovery, including preservation and hold, require Records and Information Management experience as a prerequisite. Your role in this process is indeed important. In this program, we'll discuss the role of RIM in the eDiscovery process, and provide you with information to help you improve your discovery response teams and workflows, while leveraging the experiences of records and information managers.

Speaking about this topic is Robin Thompson, who is Vice-President of Marketing for Business Intelligence Associates (BIA), where she is responsible for the marketing vision and educational outreach programs for BIA clients.
