May 11, 2016 - From RIM to Information Governance

Posted: March 8, 2016

Speaker: William Saffady

Information governance creates a strategic framework that aligns information-related initiatives with an organization’s mission. It has quickly become the focus of records management attention in companies, government agencies, and other organizations, but its relationship to RIM remains confusing. Is it a new field or a rebranding of well established ideas, an evolved form of records management or a replacement for it? This session will review the key characteristics of information governance, emphasizing its distinctive characteristics, its business justification, its relationship to records management, the roles and responsibilities of IG stakeholders, the integration of information governance with other information-related disciplines, and enabling technologies for information governance. The session is based on the speaker’s new book on information governance, which will be published by ARMA International in 2016.
